Mirian's Story

My passions are leadership development and art.

When I was young, I was a very timid person, but I have always gotten along with people easily. Having a program that will make me step outside of my boundaries will help me get that extra push to be the leader I truly am inside. I understand that these skills will be essential in a work environment, as well in my day to day life. Establishing these skills now will open doors for me in the future, which is why I want to develop my role as a leader. I am currently working at Juniper Networks in which I need to put my full effort in showing others that, although I am 15, I am capable of doing projects that my co-workers can do as well. Difficult tasks always show me how they are an opportunity to grow, and that has truly inspired me.

Attending CCA Pre-College Program will help me pursue my passion for leadership development through doing something that I love with people I have never met. While developing my art skills, I will also have the opportunity to collaborate and work with people that may not have the same ideas or artistic eye as me. This will offer me the opportunity to learn something new from each person as well as teach me how to create something spectacular with what we have in common. This camp will also enable me to showcase what skills I am strong in and show me what skills I am weak in. From there, I will be able to apply it to my life. Just like all leaders, they never stop learning. This is my opportunity to build myself up and inspire others.
