My passion is Political Science.
Political Science to me is more than a Science. I see it as the analysis of political activity and behavior. If one is able to analyze political events and make sense of governmental jargon, I feel one is better equipped to make more informed decisions that may affect thousands of people. My passion for Political Science has grown, after inspecting our current presidential race. The atmospheric negativity that I have sensed throughout the 2016 presidential race has propelled me to better understand the basic fundamentals of government. Also, my participation in the Congressional Youth Council has given me valuable experience on how government works and the value and importance of public service. After figuring out that my Grandmother of 67 years was diagnosed with Retinopathy ( i.e. blindness in both eyes) my passion for Political Science has only increased.
Jahdiel is a good candidate for Summer@Brown because he has decided on his own to pursue this opportunity, just as he decided to apply for the Congressional Youth Committee. He is showing that he is willing and able to take control of his own education, that he has the drive and the sense of purpose required for success. Many people his age are still in the phase where school is done to them rather than seeing their education as something they can control.
From my interactions with Jahdiel, I firmly believe the Brown program is a good fit. As a parent, I researched the program for my own child. She ended up participating in another summer pre-college program where she experienced tremendous academic and social growth. I think being on an ivy league campus, attending classes and meeting other motivated, intelligent students will be a similarly invaluable experience for Jahdiel.
My time at the Summer@Brown pre-college program was an amazing experience. I met new people and had an awesome educational experience. Both the social and academic aspect of the program, I feel, have prepared me for the college experience. Because I met different people from diverse cultures I feel my world view has become international. I also learned much about politics and I feel more informed about social issues. All in all, I thank wishbone for affording me this opportunity.
I am going to be participating in a course titled: "Are Corporations People? The History, Law, and Theory of Corporations and Personhood" . I am really excited to be joining the program because it will give me the time to understand how the government and private sector interwine. I think that this program will help me to better understand the world that we live in and to better appreciate the rights given to American citizens.
I am looking forward to working with other people my age and sharing ideas and advice with one another. I chose this program because I really wanted to know more about corporations and if they have the same rights as every day people. I believe that participating in this program will help me decide on whether or not I want to major in economics/something business related or not.
Jahdiel: I always believe in you. Since you were a little boy that was your goal (dream) and I believe that you will reach it!
My best wishes for you my buddy! 🙌🙌
Have a fun trip!!!
We love you and wish you the best!
