Khadijat's Story

My passion is engineering.

I discovered my passion for engineering happened at the same time as my passion for leadership, when I was in elementary school. I unintentionally demonstrated leadership skills whenever a teacher separated the students into groups for either projects or activities, especially engineering projects. I would always offer to be the leader or just automatically take charge and lead the group. Year after year, I kept building on my leadership skills by running for executive positions in clubs. I even started my own club called the Society of Women Engineers at my school to help other girls become leaders in the real world.

Khadijat is a strong student that has demonstrated interest in many areas! She takes challenging courses, is outgoing and active in many clubs and holds leadership roles. She has expressed interest in engineering. What an opportunity that would be for her to be able to spend her summer at UConn.
