My passion is to help those who don't have a voice.
My passion started a couple of years back when my father got fired by his boss, whom he'd known for a very long time. When asked why he was fired, his boss said that it was because he injured his knee and couldn't work. My dad's problem encouraged my passion to help those who need to have their voice heard after an unfair decision has been made. If the hard truth needs to be spoken, then I will speak that truth.
I will develop my passion by attending UCLA Mock Trail Institute. This program will help me become a stronger, more confident speaker and a competitive candidate in the law industry. I also hope that this summer program will help my chances of being accepted into UCLA next year.
"I firmly believe Belen has a natural talent for argumentation and using her voice wisely. The Mock Trial Institute at UCLA will serve as a great benefit for Belen's academic achievement, college preparation, and career exposure to the field of law.
Belen is driven to pursue higher education, and this opportunity will allow her to explore one of her top university choices: UCLA. She will be able to meet likeminded students and make connections that will support her through her journey of higher education. Additionally, Belen will be able to leave San Jose for the first time in her life, an opportunity that she would never have been able to pursue without the assistance of Wishbone."
I want to start off by thanking everyone who helped me attend the Mock Trail summer program at UCLA. My experience at UCLA was very eye opening and life changing. Attending a whole week at UCLA's Mock Trail Institution, strengthened my motivation and passion for pursuing Law. Not only has this trip made me realize that I truly do want to become a lawyer, but it has also made me realize the importance of diversity in race. When I first arrived at the camp, I was very nervous and excited to try something new for the very first time. After checking in and leaving my heavy bags in my assigned dorm, I made my way to my fellow peers who were put in groups. We had class every day, twice a day, then we would go into our groups and study. Since I was new to Mock Trail, I was lucky enough to have a group that helped me manage the work load. Every night around 12, I would finally go back to my dorm, after spending hours of hard work and would process everything I learned that day. The field of law itself interested me, but what I couldn't get my mind off was the feeling of not fitting in. Most of the time, I felt that I couldn't relate to most kids. Most of my peers didn't know or couldn't connect to my background, which made me realize how were are only teenagers, yet we still have this arm length of opportunity between us. Let me tell you this, it didn't discourage me at all, it motivated me. It motivated me to the extent that I want to show the world that I can become a successful lawyer no matter what.
At the end of the program, I was glad that I made lifelong friends. We promised to stay connected and help each other throughout Senior year. I want to thank you all once again, for letting me experience something incredible. I also want to thank UCLA for having me and for letting students take a further step into their future.
Hello, I first wanted to start off by thanking everyone who helped me reached my goal to attend a summer program in UCLA, not just any program but a Mock Trail. Without your help, I wouldn't have been given this amazing opportunity I now get to experience. So out of the million different programs I had the option to attend why did I decide to attend the UCLA: Mock Trail summer program? Well, ever since I was young, I had this deep passion for helping those who don't have a voice to speak up or to be heard. My passion was soon turned into a dream, when an act of injustice was made to my father. I believe that attending UCLA over the summer will definitely give me a huge boost on pursuing my dreams of becoming a lawyer in the new future. I am super excited to meet new friends and to gain experience in what I will be doing in a couple of years! I am counting down the days until I take a flight on a plane to attend a wonderful program in less than two weeks. Thank you all so much for your help and you will be hearing from me soon!
I'm so proud of all your hard work and enthusiasm around learning! This will be such a valuable experience for you and I could not think of a more deserving student!
I am so excited and happy for you!
I'm a law student now, and we need more passionate smart women to become fearless advocates. I'm inspired by your passion for advocacy and hope you will learn a lot this summer!
Great work pursuing your dream!
I believe that everyone should get, at the very least, the opportunity to reach for their dreams. I wish you that opportunity. Good luck and best wishes:)
