My passion is Soccer.
I honestly didn't like it at first. No one would pass me the ball and I couldn't do all the fancy moves that other players could. I started gaining a passion when my uncle took over the team I had been playing for. He had an impact on me because all I'd try to do was make him proud by becoming the best that I could be. As I got older I started seeing that the only future I saw myself having was soccer.
I would like to gain some experience with professional trainers and I have seen how Nike camps help players improve and gain lots of experience in being professional. I would want to learn that because if I get scouted by a college I know it will be very different from what I do now. My teacher Ms. Batlle has helped me a lot on trying to understand the concepts. My coach, Edward Stephen, has helped me with how soccer colleges will be. Going to the camp would boost my chances of playing soccer professionally. It's all I ever strive for in life.
"As a 15-year-old boy very much aware that the time to be identified to play for a college team is imminent, Javier has been doing his best to contact university coaches and apply for different camps and training programs. This self-advocacy and confidence that I have seen from Javi over the last few months is very unique for a young man in his community. Therefore, I believe the Nike Soccer Camp is an incredible growth and exposure opportunity for Javi.
In the two years that I have known this young man, soccer has been a major contributor to his academics and his character. When we discuss his future, we are always emphasizing the importance of being a student-athlete. From what I know about the Nike Soccer Camp, the players and the coaches also revere the value of both sports and academics. What is even more attractive, is that the camps are located on university campuses. The exposure to a university soccer program would allow Javi to witness for himself how his love for soccer can also drive academic success and vice-versa."
Thank you all who funded me. I had such an amazing time at camp. I met new people who were from different countries, made new friends, and learned a lot from my peers. The coaches and trainers would tell us how to improve and encouraged us to ask coaches questions about what they look for in a player. I'm so thankful for the donations and the opportunity you gave me. I made sure I didn't waste it. Thank you so much!!!!!!
Thank you to everyone who donated. I achieved my goal and now am going to be able to attend Nike Camp. I can't express how happy I am.
