Mariama's Story

My passion is art.

I love visual art because it is about expressing your feelings without words. Art inspires me to say what I cannot say out loud. I can express myself in a way no one can take away. I love the way that art can used in so many different mediums and forms. In my art class at school, I like to find new, unique, and creative ways of completing my assignments.

Attending Parsons Pre-College Academy will help me enhance my skills as an artist and learn work skills. I have many skills that would benefit the program: I am diligent, efficient, knowledgeable, and a fast learner. I have also taken many art courses and am an artist myself, so I understand the techniques and the meanings of the art. I believe the skills I will learn in this program will help me achieve my goals in the future.

Excited for Parsons

This year was my first year of high school, and it was not what I expected. I expected all the work, but I didn't expect all the connections I made with my teachers. They really cared about us as individuals and our growth as people. They helped me learn a lot about myself with all the reflection work they had us do. My teachers taught me more than just the course, and I hope the teachers I have for the next three years will continue to do so. I can't wait to begin my program and hopefully put some of the things I learned to use.
