Michelle's Story

My passion is business.

I discovered my passion for business through my school's Corporate Work Study Program. During my freshman year, I was able to work at a real-life company and learned how the company and the owner were able to create it. It really impacted me because it allowed me to see how the owner was able to create and run a fascinating company with such a large amount of employees. Also, at both my previous and current job, I realize how I don't want to be sitting at a desk all day typing, but I want to be able to interact with people more and really communicate with them. I realize that a business has a broad scope on the things in which the business can focus on or stands for, such as its audience, its products, the brand, the mission, etc.

Attending NSLC Business and Entrepreneurship will help me pursue my passion for business because it will put me in a real life scenario of what it would be like to be a CEO of a company and have to make decisions. Not only that, but it will help encourage me to come out of my shell and know how to speak professionally. I want to be able to stand in front of a large audience and speak confidently. I would also like to network with adults and students who may have the same interest in business as me and hear from them. I may never know if a student I meet there may be the next creator of a top company.
