My passion is art and math.
Math has always made me feel comfortable because English is not my first language, yet math is the same in any language. Additionally, I became interested in art when I was given a journal, which I decided to draw in instead of writing. While math allows me to challenge myself, drawing allows me to relax and express myself in a way I can’t find in words.
I will develop my passion for art by attending the Academy of Art Summer Pre-College Art Experience because I will improve my drawing and learning skills. In addition, this program will help me develop a career in architecture, which combines my passion for math with my passion for art. I know that it will be a great experience and that I will learn so many things. I get very excited just thinking about it and feel very grateful to have this opportunity to apply.
"Fabiola is audacious inside and outside the classroom. Her willingness to take risks, celebrate successes, and learn from her mistakes gives her a maturity beyond her years. Additionally, Fabiola is one of the most consistent students I know; her persistence, passion, and motivation are unwavering. She wants to go to college and be an architect and currently she is doing everything she can to ensure she achieves her dreams.
Fabiola is a prime candidate for the Academy of Art Summer Pre-College Art Experience because she has a dream of being an architect and this program has an Interior Architecture and Design course, which will enable her to get her feet wet in the field and build a portfolio. Furthermore, she will be exposed to a completely new environment and have the opportunity to develop relationships with people with similar interests."
This summer I spent my time taking architecture classes which I truly enjoyed very much. In the beginning I was very nervous because it was the first time I was going to take the BART by myself, but that soon went away when I got use to the new form of transportation and started to meet and get close to my peers. My professors were really nice and would make the class fun by making jokes and just setting up a comfortable environment in their classrooms. In addition, the studio was open even after class was over and before it started so that we could use the drafting tables and have a quiet place to work.
I am not going to lie and say that my experience was easy, there were days when I was stressed with the amount of work that I had, including some all nighters. However, now that my classes are over and I look back at it, I am grateful for those times because they made me into a person who can manage her time better. I am happy that I got to experience this because it allowed me to meet great people and create great memories.
I will be starting my program soon and could not be any more excited. I am also a bit nervous since I will be getting to and from my program on BART. I have no experience on traveling on BART by myself. However, my parents have already given me information about it, and I now know which ones I need to take in order to arrive to my program. In my program, I will be taking three architecture classes and one photography class. I have been interested in architecture and have been considering it as a major. This program will give me a real experience with architecture and will help me in deciding if I want to take it further. I also chose to take a class in photography because it seemed interesting and was something that I have wanted to try for some time now. I am most excited for the experience that I will have and the people that I will meet. I will give all my effort to my classes and plan to not anything for granted. I am very happy that I will be spending my summer working on something that I am passionate about.
