Alyssa's Story

My passion is art, specifically writing.
I discovered my passion for art mainly through schooling. As my schooling continued I began to read more difficult books, and I found myself enjoying them. The more I read, the more I wanted to write. Eventually I was accepted into the Creative Writing department of ACES ECA, enhancing my love for the art.

Attending the Education Unlimited Emerging Writers Institute will help me further some of the pieces I have already written. Feedback from the fellow writers in the program would give different perspectives on changes that I could make and other routes I could take in the course of revising. It will help me grow as a writer, and as a critic, which, in turn, would help me improve my abilities. It will also prepare me for submitting to writing competitions in Autumn 2018.

My Experience

I had a really good time at my program. I met so many amazing people from all over the world and made lifelong friends. It's been a few weeks and I still talk to some of them daily despite time differences. We went on amazing trips, one of which was to New York, and we did exercises that really helped me with my writing. I am so thankful to everyone who helped me go to this program, I'm incredibly thankful.
