My passion is musical theater. I have always liked to dance, sing and act. When I was younger, I remember watching movies over and over until I learned all the words, and then I would act out the entire movie. I would even pause the movie and do costume changes to match the characters scene by scene. It was so much fun! When I was in the 8th grade, I got the courage to audition for the school musical, Beauty and the Beast, and I got the lead of Belle! That performance ignited my passion for musical theater. The feeling I felt upon hearing the audience applause was indescribable. My life was forever changed!
I believe attending the US Performing Arts Musical Theater Program will cultivate my love of music and Performance Theater. The program will help me find my voice and gain confidence in using my gift. I also hope to find a way to ease, or at least deal with, the anxiety I get when it's time to perform. I am excited to learn performing techniques as well as audition skills from professionals. The chance to be a part of this wonderful program would be an amazing opportunity and an awesome experience!
Madison is a very outgoing and an incredibly hard working student. Even at a very young age, she was always very comfortable on stage. She has a passion for theater and belongs on stage. I would love for Madison to have the chance strengthen her skills and have many opportunities to explore.
Madison is an excellent candidate for the US Performing Arts Musical Theater and will benefit from this experience. It will not only help her grow personally, but also for a career in theater. It would be great for her to have outside experience with professionals that could help her with the whole process of making theater a career. Whether it's writing, directing or the lead role, Madison will learn great techniques as an actor.
While spending time at the US Performing Arts Camp, words cannot describe how wonderful of a time I had participating the Musical Theater program. We spent days doing numerous singing, dancing, and acting workshops, and at the end of the week we had the opportunity to perform a "work in progress" for our family and friends. My experience was amazing, as I got to do what I love to do, as well as create wonderful new friendships with incredible people who share the same love for performing as I do. Having the opportunity to work with incredible instructors and passionate singers, dancers, and actors made my experience at US Performing Arts Camp one that I will always remember.
As of right now, I am finishing up my junior year of high school, and although it is hectic this time of year, I am a little sad to see this year coming to an end. I am also currently playing softball, where we just recently finished our season with a 13-0 record, and won both FAA and WNEPSA championships! I am more than excited for summer to arrive, as well as excited to participate in this program. I am excited to sharpen my stage presence, meet and work with incredible people, and have tons of fun on the beautiful Amherst College campus!
