I discovered my passion for acting when I joined my first play, The Lion King. I loved the feeling of being someone else and feeling their pain. During this play, I was assigned as Mufasa and he was the exact opposite of me. I was able to play with his powers and add my own feelings to make the character come alive. After experiencing this act, I became passionate about acting because it brought me a feeling of freedom. I enjoy taking part in a scene because it allows me to be any person without being judged. It also gives me the opportunity to try new roles and broaden my horizons. Acting brings me great joy because it provides me a sense of accomplishment because it challenges me to learn a new role that can be the opposite of myself.
Attending US Performing Arts Acting for the Camera would help me pursue my passion for acting because I am always ready to learn more about making my acting better. US Performing Arts will help me by giving me the building blocks to pursue my passion and will allow me to meet people who have the same interests like me. I was born and raised in NYC and I am aware that this great city is a leader in the area of acting. Attending this program gives me the opportunity to participate with great artist and classes to help me pursue my passion. I would like to experience being part of a diverse community to learn more skills and I know that this program will offer it.
Rillieux has already shown his ability to commit to hard tasks, first by traveling from Bridgeport to New Haven and back every day by himself on public transportation just to get to school. He is passionate about acting and it gives him a great way to express himself and develop as a person. It also gives him an opportunity to develop his leadership skills. As we seek to expand our drama/acting programs, we are going to need students who have a more solid footing in these arts. Rillieux, with the support of US Performing Arts Acting for the Camera and the ongoing support of the current musical theater staff, will be able to have a role where he shines and brings in other students to the fold.
