Ashley's Story

My passion is law. Ever since I was a little girl, I'd watch Law and Order with my grandmother. I only watched as a way to bond and connect with her. To my surprise, I grew to enjoy and eventually, love the show. I loved watching how lawyers and prosecutors were able to bring justice to people who have been through traumatic experiences. I believe children and adults alike should have a voice, especially in times like those. Since discovering my passion for law. I try as much as possible to go to work with my mom at the Supreme Court courthouse.

By attending Syracuse’s summer program, I will be able to look at law from a different perspective. One thing I've learned about law is that it requires a lot of reading and writing, which is one subject I excel in. At Syracuse, I’m prepared to do all the work in store for me with great enthusiasm and I hope it gives me and even better idea of what my dream career will look like.

Ashley is an incredibly motivated student who works hard and pushes her self even when she is stressed and tired. She is passionate, compassionate, and always willing to seek and give help. Ashley will no doubt come back to Brooklyn and use what she learned to help improve both her community and our school. On top of that she is also a phenomenal student who consistently maintains a high GPA and homework completion average. Ashley is very passionate about law and has even asked me if I have any books on the discipline. I know she will be a great fit for this program.

Post Syracuse Update

Thank you so much for giving me the opportunity to visit Syracuse university for 2 weeks. I learned a lot from my travels and have discovered that I really do love law and it is something I wish to continue to explore in the future. I made amazing friends, increased my academic index, and can successfully say that I have a new college that I am interested in working with in the future. Once again thank you all and enjoy the pictures I took while I was away.

Before Attending Syracuse

I’m very excited to have the opportunity to go to Syracuse this summer. I believe it’s an amazing opportunity, and I am lucky to be able to have it. The most exciting part will have to be exploring more about the career path I've chosen to be on and meeting new people. Another activity I’m excited for is having mock trials with other people from the program and testing out my debate skills. I will be able to see how I will do as an adult from the place I am now and where I can grow. This will be a very good reflection for my future and again I’m super grateful for the opportunity.
