My passion is the outdoors..
Reflecting back on my childhood I realize that I have always enjoyed being in a lively environment. Living in a country (rural) environment for 7 years of my life encouraged my passion for the outdoors to take root. There was a forest and river available within minutes. As a curious toddler this provided me a perfect environment for exploring. As I began to grow up I began to feel a calm sensation when I was outside. I gained an appreciation for the plants and animals in their home. Physically being part of the outdoors makes me feel alive and accomplished. I feel a great sense of accomplishment when I look down from a hill that I have put all my effort into climbing. The rush of air in my face as I run down from that same hill makes me feel alive.
By attending the Youth LEAD All Abilities Camp, I will be able to explore my passion independently for an entire month. I will experience unique opportunities such as water-rafting and kayaking. This experience will take me to a whole new level of the outdoor world. I will also be learning new skills that will help me continue to develop as an effective leader, that I can use in my future. It will also teach me how to support and help others enjoy the outdoors. I want to be able to show others how amazing it is to enjoy and be part of nature.
She is a true leader on campus, participating in many school-wide activities and making them more fun for everyone, so I know she will be a welcome addition to the program. She is particularly well suited to the team aspect of the program as she is a valued member of every team she has participated on here at DCP.
Sarahi has a strong connection to the environment and outdoor activities but she has not been able to pursue this much in recent years. She began her life in a rural setting and for the first 7 years of her life was very connected to the natural world. Since then, she has lived in a very urban environment and, for the most part, has felt very cutoff from the nature loving side of herself. She does what she can to get involved in outdoor activities, camping with her family, bouldering around San Jose, and participating in our program at Hidden Villa. This was an overnight camping experience with nature hikes, team building activities, rope courses, etc. I know she is very excited about the possibility of participating in the Adventure camp program as that is something she will certainly not be able to access without the support of a program like Wishbone
There are ways to make a difference and help out our future generations to come. This is one way to do it. I hope you make the best out of life and make your dreams a reality. Never give up and never forget those that helped you on your path to success.
Good luck with the program, Sarahi : )
Keep up the ganas! You are going places. :)
Keep up the good work.
Enjoy your summer time adventures out of doors!
I hope you reach your goal. You've demonstrated a lot of ganas this year!
