My passion is social justice.
My passion for social justice is very strong because I can relate to love and support. By pursuing law, I will have the chance to aid individuals by offering legal advice. I learned through my work at school that commitment to others can lead to great results. I now want to apply this principle to the law. At first, my practice may only help one person at a time. Eventually, I hope to impact entire communities, cities, and even states. In terms of career aspirations, I wish to spend a few years after passing the bar practicing law to gain practical experience and to help individuals directly. After that, I want to direct my energy toward teaching law, since I believe this is the best way to impact the future of society.
When given a career exploration assignment, Alenah immediately gravitated toward researching the path to becoming a lawyer. She is concerned with social justice, and in particular, wants to advocate for people of color. Alenah researched the daily tasks and responsibilities of lawyers, analyzed the benefits and challenges of the profession, and articulated why justice was important to her. She presented to her peers professionally and confidently - when asked if she would still like to pursue this profession after her research, she gave an enthusiastic "yes!"
