A Note from Mr. Rose, Junior's Teacher

Junior is a good candidate for US Sports Nike Baseball Camp for many reasons. First of all, he is an incredibly talented athlete and his skills would benefit greatly from being able to be around great coaching and great players. More importantly however, I think Junior's social development would benefit greatly from being in a camp with kids from different backgrounds. As a relatively recent newcomer from the Dominican Republic, now living in the South Bronx, he does not get the opportunity to interact with peers from backgrounds, ethnically nor economically, different from his own. The opportunity to meet and form relationships with a variety of peers would be a powerful and transformative experience for him.
