The topic I studied at Parsons this summer was fashion design, and I learned what process a designer would go through to create a dress or a simple shirt. On the last day of the program, there was an exhibition in which all of the students would show off what they had learned during the two-week program. I thought it was very inspiring to see other students' work. Attending this program has influenced me by enabling me to have confidence in myself and to know that fashion is all about being yourself. It has also influenced me by making me decide that I would like to study fashion in college. I would recommend this program to a friend because it is a great opportunity to understand what it is like to be a designer, and if someone wants to be a fashion designer, then this would be perfect for them.

I am most excited about joining the Parsons summer program. Being at Parsons would help me be myself and be independent. I am excited to meet new people that I have never met before. Goals that I have set are: paying attention to the teachers that are assigned to the program and taking notes on what I don't understand. I'm nervous about meeting new people and getting out of my comfort zone. A challenge that I might face is trying to prove to everyone that I can follow my dream. I want to show people how I interpret fashion. I will overcome this challenge by working hard and not let any distraction fall in my path. I would try to make a difference based on the chances I have as a Hispanic high school student living in New York.
