Janyah's Story

My passion is to study the medical field. I chose this passion because I want to take part in the most amazing phenomenon to me in the world, childbirth. Being an obstetrician means that one is hard working and attentive because you would have to pay attention to the mother’s needs. This would be perfect for me because I work hard and great with others.I chose this passion because I have always wanted to be an obstetrician ever since I could watch television. I used to watch the TLC shows and thought giving birth was amazing. Being an obstetrician is both exciting and unpredictable.

A Note from Ms. Debbeler, Janyah's Teacher

Janyah wants to be an obstetrician, but would benefit hugely from being exposed to the multitude of satisfying careers that exist in the medical field. Janyah also would benefit from going away and experiencing the independence and responsibility of college life. Janyah would be an excellent fit for Summer College at Ithaca. She has met and exceeded their academic requirements. She has also demonstrated an interest in the subject area - she completed a day of job-shadowing with a surgeon this past summer in addition to leading our Youth About Business team. She needs an at-bat at being away from her family's strong support system and our school's heavily structured environment.

Excited for my summer at Ithaca College

I am very excited to attend Ithaca College this summer. I am excited about being away from home. While attending Ithaca I will learn how to be more independent and manage my time. I am nervous about being away from my family for a long period of time. Also, I am nervous about the large workload. If I have a problem with meeting deadlines, I will set a reminder of each assignment and when it is due. Thank you so much for helping me attend this summer program!

I would like to thank you so much for giving me the opportunity to attend this program. Without your donations I would not have been able to attend this prestigious program. Health Sciences: Foundations and Careers at Ithaca College will help me explore my dream career as an obstetrician. Your donation will help become more skilled in the medical profession.
