First, I would like to start off by saying thank you so much for helping me attend Hurricane Island Outward Bound summer program. The course that I went on was really challenging for myself, as well as my group. On my first week of the course my group canoed 5-7 miles each day and spent nearly the whole day on the water with the sun beaming upon on us.

After the canoeing part of my course, we transitioned over to land to start off our hiking part. Although I thought this part was going to be easy, I was wrong. Many factors were not in our favor in the next half of our course. On day 10 of the course, we had to hike 9 miles and cross over a mountain which was 3,368 ft in elevation. In the morning we made excellent time and were just 0.3 miles away from the summit. A thunderstorm came in and made us go back down the mountain and into a lighting drill (sitting on a mat until the storm goes away), which lasted around 4 hrs. We lost so much valuable time and didn't even eat lunch that day. We still managed to arrive to our campsite by midnight, all soaked and exhausted. Although this course was difficult, I really enjoyed it and would go back any time.
