Crystal's Story

My passion is the outdoors. I love being outdoors and having new adventures. I've gone on a family camping trip before, and still remember how incredible the experience was. I loved being able to jump into the lake during the day and seeing the stars at night. My grandma has always loved fish, which inspired me to really love them too. I've found that fish are very unique and beautiful.

Attending SeaCamp will allow me to have more adventures and create more memories. I'd finally be able to go scuba diving, which I've always dreamed of doing. SeaCamp will also teach me more about nature and to appreciate our natural environment more. Going to San Diego will grant me new opportunities outside of Los Angeles.

A Note from Ms. Gonzalez, Crystal's Mentor

Crystal is a great candidate for SEACAMP I because of her love for the outdoors. She is constantly looking for adventures and opportunities to explore new places. She is not afraid to step out of her comfort zone and try new things, which is exactly what SEACAMP I will require from her. SEACAMP I will benefit Crystal by providing her with a new lens of nature and it's many wonders. I believe she will benefit by gaining critical thinking skills and the opportunity to explore places outside of her own community. Given the opportunity, Crystal will be able to learn more about her passion and provide her with a chance to be outside during her summer break.

Update

I have successfully raised all the money I need for my campaign. I just want to thank everyone who helped me raise that money and make this trip possible. I currently have about five weeks of school left. During the five weeks, I am trying to put my grades up to A's or maintain my grades. I have been making a list of things I might need to take in this trip.
