My passion is volleyball.
I started getting really serious in the sport during the summer of 8th grade, when I was a part of a summer volleyball program with some friends that have high school and college level experience. They helped me improve so much this past summer. I realized that volleyball was my passion and it is one of the few things I actually want to continue and thrive in.
I think that being able to attend Nike Volleyball Camp will help me explore my passion by seeing what different skills I have with a different group of people. I believe volleyball is 85% teamwork and 15% personal work.
"Kirby has an appetite for challenge and a love of people. With seeming boundless energy, Kirby takes on multiple endeavors at once, whether student government, church leadership, show choir and, of course, school sports, all while maintaining A-level academic success. Kirby is willing to throw herself into new challenging things, for example, representing the city last year on the SF Bay Sox in a historic first, all girl's national baseball tournament in Orlando. It's a natural instinct for Kirby to know how to foster camaraderie among her team-mates, making her value to a team as important off as well as it is on the field or court."
Thank you so much for this experience! I was introduced to the sport when I was younger but I only started really getting into when I was in 7-8th grade! I played for James Denman Middle School for two years, and ever since I've love it and been passionate about it. I joined high school JV volleyball at Balboa High School as a starter and outside hitter and then I joined a volleyball club team called Tandem. I've been doing that ever since my school season was finished. Unfortunately, I got injured in the beginning of club season and it delayed my playing for a while.. Yet that didn't stop me from playing. I got better and tried my best and thats why I'm so excited to play for this nike volleyball camp. I'm determined to make varsity and hope to improve a lot in volleyball and get scholarships for college. Thank you again so much for this opportunity.
