My passion is medicine.
Every time someone asks me what I want to be when I grow up I say that I want to become a doctor. I love to help people and being a doctor since you get to help people all the time. I like biology and math so this is something that I could see myself doing in the future.
Summer@Brown has a lot of benefits to it but the one I am going to explain cannot be measured easily. Raven has worked her tail off for the last three years and has not caught a break. Living in an area below the poverty line, in a state with the largest achievement gap in the country, where crime rates are through the roof and with limited funds at home. This wonderful individual shows up to school everyday and has a GPA above a 3.0. What this program will do for her, is show her that hard work does pays off despite the curve balls life has thrown at her! Maybe not immediately, but at some point when Raven continues gritting it out, she will see that hard work does pay off!
I had an awesome time at Brown University this summer. It was an experience that I will never forget. I only took one class and it really showed me that being a forensic scientist is a very meticulous job and it takes a lot of patience. My favorite part of the program was when we learned about the different types of fingerprints. We learned how to take proper fingerprints from a person and I also made a mold of my foot and fingerprints. During free time I learned how to take the Rhode Island city bus and I went to Providence Place Mall which was huge! I wouldn't have been able to have this experience without my donors and I really appreciate all of you.
First off I would like to thank all the people who donated to my campaign. I am glad that I am able to attend such a prestigious program and it wouldn't have been possible without you.
I chose to attend the class "Forensic Science - CSI Providence" because it is a math and science based class. The main job of forensic scientist is collecting and calculating data from crime scenes. Although I still want to become an anesthesiologist, attending this summer program will give me other careers that I can see myself pursuing. I am looking forward to attending Brown University this Summer and I can't wait to tell you guys all about it!
I was her chaperone at a New Testament Church Of God in Buffalo, NY about 6years ago. Raven is very humble and respectful and loves God. I am praying for her commitment to her studies and her faith. Nuff BLESSINGS and love to you Raven.
Keep pursuing your passion, Raven! And I hope your hard work is rewarded with this opportunity to show what you're made of!
