My passion is science.
I discovered my passion for science when I was in my freshmen year in high school and took a biology class. This class was very interesting and I learned something new every day. I then took a physics class during my sophomore year and that’s when I learned science also involves math, not just doing experiments. After my physics class, I discovered my passion for science and technology.
I chose the Girls Love Science Too program because not many women are involved in science or get a degree in it. It is a male dominated profession and I feel empowered entering with my head up high and ready to learn. Attending this program would allow me to further explore my passion by having hands-on experience and surrounding myself with girls who share this interest.
"Yessenia is a highly motivated and creative young person in a resource-limited community where access to path changing programs like Girls Love Science Too are almost unthinkable. She has been an outstanding student at our campus and has worked hard to be ready for college. She is a passionate, caring and goal-driven young person who would excel at this experience."
