Emmanuel's Story

My passion is becoming a lawyer..

I have a passion to become a lawyer because my uncle was a lawyer who always seemed to help others. When I graduate high school and college I want to be able to help others like my uncle. In fifth grade I discovered basketball when I first arrived in America. I didn’t know of any star athletes or legends; I simply loved to play the game because it helped me make friends and gave me something positive to do after school. I also have a passion for trying different cuisines, such as Italian and Jamaican food. This allows me to constantly try new dishes and learn of various cultures.

Attending the NYLF Law and CSI program will be an amazing experience because I will be able to take part in courtroom simulations which will give me the opportunity to feel what lawyers and judges go through. Being able to take part in hands-on crime scene investigations will help me understand all of the work that takes place before entering the courtroom. I am most excited about being able to analyze evidence because I want to learn everything possible that can help me defend my future clients. If I do not take part in this program I will not be able to have such experiences and further my passion for being a lawyer.

Being that he is 15 years old and just a freshman I am not sure if he knows what his passion for a future career is yet; however I can certainly say he will find a career in which he can help others. In getting to know Emmanuel as his coach, teacher and most importantly as a mentor, he has expressed his desire to help others. He has also discussed being either a lawyer, judge or doctor. He views these careers choices as a great way to give back and help others."

Back to School

I want to say thank you to everyone who contributed to my fundraising campaign
to attend the National Youth Leadership Forum: Law and CSI. I had so much fun making new friends and most importantly I learned a lot. I learned all about the law and judicial system. We got to meet and hear from some very experienced people. We also got to practice our own cases. In addition I got to see some of the monuments and historical landmarks in Washington D.C.

I am looking forward to going back to school. This year I will be in the "Everyday Law" class as an elective. Being able to go to Washington D.C. and take part in this opportunity will give me a valuable experience. I am very grateful for your generosity and will make the most of this experience. Thank you, I could not do this without your support.

Thank You for Funding Emmanuel's Summer Experience

I want to thank you so much for donating to Emmanuel's campaign. We were able to reach our goal a few days before the deadline. Emmanuel is very excited to visit Washington D.C. and learn about Crime Scene Investigation as well as criminal law. I will keep you updated and hopefully provide some pictures and a recap of his experience this July. He and I both appreciate and thank you for your help!
