My passion is medicine. Growing up I always enjoyed caring for and helping others. I was also always fascinated with the medical field. Nursing for me offers the perfect balance between the two. I was personally impacted by a compassionate nurse that helped me in a time of need. She connected with me on a personal level, and have inspired me to want to do the same for others. I will never forget all that she did for me that day and I made a promise to myself that I would try and leave that impact on as many people as I can. I believe that the experience sparked something within me and brought out my passion for nursing.
Attending UConn Pre-College Summer Program will definitely help me pursue my passion for nursing by providing me with the knowledge and once in a lifetime experiences that I would never be able to get anywhere else. Attending this program would be perfect for me because it is a chance for me to challenge myself academically while learning more about pursing my passion as a nurse. Because I am currently a junior in high school I believe attending UConn Pre-College Summer Program the summer leading into my senior year, would be an amazing opportunity for me to experience college early, so I have an idea of what I will be applying for in the fall.
Tapiwa is an excellent candidate for the UConn Pre-College Summer Program, as she really wants to explore every aspect of the career. She is taking a class this year to introduce her to the field but she could really benefit from from multiple experiences in the nursing field. She is kind and compassionate to others but her passion for nursing is her best quality.
Tapiwa wants to become a nurse. She is currently enrolled our Medical Careers 1 class. In this introductory class she is learning all about nursing/medical topics. Next year she will take Medical Careers 2. In this class she will intern at a local convalescent home learning hands on nursing skills. At the end of this class in May, she will test to get her CNA certificate. This is an excellent opportunity to become a certified nurse while still in high school. It is demanding but certainly worthwhile if she can pass the state testing. Tapiwa will certainly benefit from as many nursing experiences as possible. The program she picked will certainly give her more opportunities to explore her career.
