My passion is psychology.
Ever since I was a little kid I always wondered about what goes on inside a human brain. I am very curious about the reactions that a person makes as they are thinking about something, not just learning about the parts of the brain and their functions. I am curious to know what motivates each of us to act in certain ways. I'd also like to explore what causes mental disorders and what can we do to cure them. Since I never had a chance to take Psychology in high school this summer program, at Boston University, will be the first chance for me to explore these questions. I will be taking an Introduction to Psychology course and an Abnormal Psychology course on a college campus.
My favorite hobby is to create and learn about art. I will also be taking a Visual Arts course while at Boston University. I may not know the names of many artists and famous paintings yet but I want to learn as much about it as I can by studying different art mediums such as drawing, painting, sculpture and photography.
Ultimately I'm trying to decide; should I choose psychology or visual arts as a major, or choose another option? People often change their majors and career choices many times because they are not sure what they want to do. The same goes for me. I don’t have it all planned out yet. I want to explore all my options and see which one suits me best. And even though I may not major in either of these in college, at least I will know that I have learned something new. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity and I can't wait to explore what college life will be like!
Dharti is an amazing student. She is always thinking, learning, teaching, and questioning the world around her. She is an ideal candidate for this program because she is ready to be exposed to other like-minded students. I think this program would be a huge benefit to Dharti's growth as a student and a person. Dharti is inherently curious about people. She is constantly trying to engage others in a positive manner and considers each person as a unique being. She is a natural at helping other people and a lot of that is understanding how each person thinks and how to best approach them to lend a helping hand. In our classroom we often worked through a variety of student-centered problems. We changed groups frequently but no matter which group Dharti was in that group had huge successes. A lot of the successes were because of the discussions Dharti would facilitate within the groups no matter if the other students were of high or low ability level. She has a way of including everyone and making them feel comfortable.
I had fun at the Boston University Summer Program and I learned many new things that I didn't know. I also got to know more about the classes I attended and if I want to go further. Thank you for helping me get this experience.
I am going to Boston University for the Summer Challenge program and am really excited for it. I plan on getting there early to settle in and then attend the orientation. I am going to visit the Science Museum and the aquarium. I am going to explore around the campus and try to make new friends. I haven't started packing yet since it is a few months away, although I am very excited to go there and learn new stuff.
You are an amazing young woman. Wishing you success!
Here's a little to get you going. Good luck with your fundraising.
