Kamani's Story

My passion is Basketball.

The game of basketball became my passion when I was about the age of 12. Almost every weekend, my father and I would go to the gym near my house and shoot around and play friendly games. In 2012, I started taking basketball more seriously and watched the NBA. My favorite team became the Knicks, and my favorite player on that team was Carmelo Anthony. I always looked up to Carmelo because I enjoyed the way he played the game of basketball. Once I heard that he had a summer basketball camp, I begged my parents to let me go. After a while, they said yes. I’ve been surrounded by basketball my entire life and I began to love it. This how basketball became my passion.

Attending the Nike Basketball Camp would help me explore my passion because it would teach me skills that I can use on and off the court. A skill that this camp would teach me is communication and trust. This camp would teach me communication and trust because in the game of basketball you have to learn to communicate and trust your teammates to make the right decision on and off the court. Basketball has been my passion since I was 12 and going to this camp would only make me love the game more than I already do.
