My passion is literature.
Growing up, my mom always read me books to bed or just throughout the day. My love for reading has stuck with me since. I really loved the feelings I embodied through the stories I read. I finally felt like I was able to find a place to connect with the people and characters. It never mattered the genre, I loved literature and reading with all my heart. Without books, I wouldn't be myself. Literature will always be a part of my life. It has to be, especially if I wish to continue pursuing a career in publishing.
Attending Centenary Summer Scholars will help me pursue my passion for literature. I'll be able to expand my horizons and interest in literature by learning how to capture my voice through writing. Through Centenary Summer Scholars, I'll be able to explore topics such as creative writing, imaginative writing, literacy devices, and many more! I believe that this would be a great learning experience for me. I already feel an attachment and liking to the program, and have a gut feeling this Centenary Summer Scholars will provide me with the best summer ever.
Cinia is an excellent candidate for Centenary Summer Scholars because she has a natural, passionate love for learning. When she was a sixth grade student in my class, Cinia would ask to stay up during recess to work on her paper, do research to improve her writing, and always wanted to discuss the latest chapter in her current book. Over the summer after her eighth grade year, while most students are relaxing and thinking about anything but school, Cinia was emailing me back and forth about what colleges she might one day want to attend, and what she might want to major in. She was asking me intuitive questions about college degrees and the college experience in general. These are only a few examples of Cinia's incredible passion for learning. I know that she would benefit from Centenary Summer Scholars because she has such a burning desire to further her education, and craves intellectual stimulation, especially over the summer!
At first, I really wanted to go home. But after settling into my class and making new friends, I realized that I really loved this experience. I also really miss the writing class I took. I wish I could take it all over again.
I'm very excited to attend the Centenary Summer Scholars for a week! I'm very excited to attend the Writing Workshop course. I've been waiting for this opportunity for awhile, so I'm happy to know that I'll be attending this. It's nice to know that I won't be home for a short while and that I'll be able to explore New Jersey. Also, thank you to all those that donated to my cause, I will always be grateful so once again thank you!!
With you’re determination you’re future possibilities are endless. No doubt you will be all you want to be.
Keep up the good work and you will go far!
So excited for you, Cinia!! Can’t wait to hear about the amazing experiences you continue to have!
Best wishes Cinia!
I met Cinia when I chaperoned a class trip for her sixth grade class. She was so enthusiastic about visiting the Metropolitan Museum of Art and was just a joy to be around. I know Cinia will take full advantage of this learning opportunity and will enjoy every moment!
