Vaughn's Story

My passion is engineering.
Engineering is my passion because I have been interested in its helpful innovations to many of society’s infrastructures. When I was little I was constantly breaking down anything interesting I could get my hands on, most of the time trying to understand how the object works. As I got older, I still had an interest for understanding how things work and how they were built because I was driven by curiosity. Later on, I found out that this interest was related to engineering.

I hope this experience at iD Tech Camp will help expand my knowledge of engineering and familiarity with technology. I believe iD Teach Camp will provide me the necessary skills and experiences for me to thrive in a career as an engineer in the future.

A Note from Mr. Frick, Vaughn's Counselor

Vaughn is a great example to those around him about taking advantage of what you have available to you and seeking out opportunities to learn and improve. Even though he's just a 9th grader, Vaughn is taking our school's Intro to Engineering Design course; he is doing this because of his interest in Engineering, but also so that he can take other courses that are a part of our Project Lead the Way curriculum. He has dove into our Project Lead the Way curriculum, and the iD Tech Camp will enable him to further build his knowledge and develop his skills. After he does this program, I think he will be better prepared for other rigorous STEM courses at our school, whether it's AP Computer Science or Aerospace Engineering.

ID Tech Camps was a Wonderful Experience

The money put into this project is worth it. Special thanks to all instructors and mine Sea Bear. The experience felt very authentic. Every classmate got help when they needed it and had access to all materials needed for their class. Special thanks to NYU for hosting us. Your buildings and classrooms and dining rooms are modern and stylish. Once again thank you to all the sponsors who helped along the campaign road.
