Asela's Story

My passion is science.

My passion for learning began when I was in 8th grade. I began to perform really well in science and math, which lead my teachers to suggest the studying these subjects as a career later on. Now, I cannot imagine myself doing anything other than bonding chemicals or trying to figure out how many galaxies there are. Learning new things allows opportunities to arise and possibly to change a person's future.

By participating in the National Teen Leadership Program, I will develop my passion for learning new things because I will be given the opportunity to develop my leadership skills. This new skill set will enhance my goal of becoming a scientist.

Thank You for NTLP!

This summer was hugely impacted by NTLP. This program was eye-opening to me because the people there were able to motivate me as well as students. I now feel confident that I can make a change in the world. The other students and the staff made me feel welcomed and appreciated. This experience was not only useful, but it gave me the courage to become who I really am.
