My passion is photography.
Photography became a passion of mine at a very young age, since my father first owned a Polaroid camera. I would sneakily "borrow" my father's camera and take photos of my surroundings. Each photo I capture is a moment in one's life that can be revisited for a lifetime. The fact that photography can do such thing is what motivated me to get more involved in photography.
Attending Academy of Art Summer Pre-College Art Experience will help me develop my passion for photography because it will deepen my knowledge of photography. For a newcomer like me, this is a great program because it gives students the opportunity to develop their skills. This opportunity will take me a step closer to achieving my dream.
"Adelaida is one of the most hard-working and humble students that I know. She has an uncanny ability to handle adversity, and this makes her stand out amongst her peers. Furthermore, she understands that her academic success in high school will open more doors in the future.
Adelaida is a superb candidate for Academy of Art Summer Pre-College Art Experience because she has a deep love for photography and can accomplish anything she puts her mind towards achieving. Attending this program would expand her worldview and empower her to live the life of her dreams."
While attending Academy of Arts I took three classes: Photography, Documentary Photography, and, Motion Pictures and Television. Academy of Arts is a university for students who are devoted into becoming a professional artist in the field they choose. In photography, I learned the basics of photography such as exposure and aperture. Exposure is the amount of light a camera captures while taking pictures and aperture means the camera's adjustable opening that allows light to reach the camera's sensor. In documentary photography, I learned that to do a well in documenting with photos one must answer these five questions: who, what, where, when, and why. Lastly, motion pictures and television taught me the basics of directing a video such as where an actor should stand, look, and what type of lighting should be used. Inspiring people I met during my experience at the academy were my instructors. They taught me a valuable lesson, which was to not give up and keep practicing, which I intend to do. Again, this could not have happened without your donations, thank you. I have upload some photos I shot while attending the program.
Being a recent junior, there was many things that were expected of me as a student. Managing my time to get my work done for classes as well as applying for the SAT and ACT. I learned that to achieve my goals I have to be optimistic, have grit, and manage my time wisely. I was even able to achieve a 4.0 GPA! I am excited to attend my summer program because I will be attending a photography class which has been my interest for a long time now. I am also nervous because I will be on my own and I tend to be very shy around people I do not know, but this is also an experience I cannot wait for because this will be a way for me to communicate with others and hopefully make new friends. I think the program will affect me in a positive way because I will learn new things about art in general and meet new people.
