My passion is medicine.
My passion for medicine began when my great grandmother passed away from cancer when I was twelve-years-old. Medicine has been my passion since then because I want to make a difference in the world. If I can't find a cure for cancer, I would help out patients and try my best to save them. Additionally, medicine is my passion because I find science really interesting, and I want to understand the way medicine operates. Medicine is the number one thing in this world because it allows people to get better and to stay alive. I want to save lives, therefore medicine plays a huge role in the one thing that I want. A couple of months ago, my aunt passed away from cancer, and I didn't get a opportunity to say goodbye, so this is what motivates me to keep going.
I have had the pleasure of working with Yinelis for the past 2 years. She was a student in my Global History in 9th and 10th grade at Banana Kelly High School in the South Bronx. As her teacher for 2 years, I have had an opportunity to observe Yinelis’ dedication to her studies. Yinelis is a bright and pleasant young woman who is dependable, mature, and takes pride in her exceptional work ethic. Our school is very small (about 160 students total) and we share resources with our neighbor school also located in our building. Despite the limited programs offered at our school, she voluntarily joins ANY program that allows her to apply her leadership qualities, most primarily student government and mentoring.
I just want to take the time to thank everyone who helped and supported me through my experience at Brown. Thanks to y'all I got to experience college before even graduating highschool. It was an amazing experience and I could of never experienced it if it wasn't for everyone who helped me 💕
I am going to be attending a Forensic Science class this summer at Brown. I am excited for this program because it will open a various amount of doors for me and it will allow me to experience the college life. This program is going to allow me to get a taste of another major that I am interested in and that is investigating crime scenes.
I am looking forward to working with other students in my age range and with students who are passionate about school like I am. Growing up in the Bronx and attending a school in the South Bronx is not an easy thing especially when the students that you attend school with don't take their academics as serious as they should. I am more than honored to attend this summer program since I am going to realize what it really feels like to actually be surrounded with a group of students who are passionate about learning and who believe in themselves. This summer program is going to allow me to recognize what field I really want to go into in college.
