Janequa's Story

My passion is dancing.

I was first exposed to dance in elementary school. When I attended my first dance sessions, I saw a wide range of different types of dance. I found it cool how you can use many different types of dance motions to portray numerous amounts of characters and emotions. I never thought it was possible to express yourself through movement and dance quickly became my favorite class. I loved my school but I had an extra zest for dance.

After realizing my passion for dance, I started performing in every opportunity that I could. I enjoy all forms of dance, because they bring different types of energy and work out different muscles in the body. Attending the Broadway Dance Center classes will definitely help me explore and expand my passion for dance. This once in a lifetime opportunity will allow me to obtain unparalleled expertise from dance professionals that I will not encounter without entering this program. I want to improve my dance vocabulary, skills, stretch routines and body structure. I LOVE TO DANCE and I am an amazing dancer!

A Note from Ms. Cheung, Janequa's Teacher

As the excellent student I know Janequa to be, she not only challenges herself on a daily basis in the classroom, but she also challenges herself outside of the classroom. In the classroom, she does her best no matter what and always tries to challenge herself by asking deeper questions than expected and being continuously curious. Her thirst for perfection is strong; she pushes herself to be the best she can be at everything she does. This translates to dance and even though we are an art school, dance opportunities are not abundant. Janequa has searched for dance programs and opportunities both inside and outside of the school and continues to explore her passion despite being limited.
