Throughout middle school I found myself looking for a change in certain government policies. The legalization of same-sex marriage was often brought up and I found it so disconcerting that I had no way to change the laws at hand. I knew that if I ever wanted anything to change politically that I would need to fight for it. I was aware that the likelihood of me becoming even a congressman in the House of Representatives was very slim. I found hope in the fact that many local elections for state Senate or House of Representatives were closely fought. My goal is now to end up in state government and directly make a positive impact.
Attending Centenary Summer Scholars would provide me the necessary skills and guidance for me to make my dreams of becoming a politician come true. This program would be an amazing opportunity to be introduced to the road ahead.
Dan studies current topics and enjoys discussing current events and political situations in our country with teachers and select peers. He is mature and well read. He speaks of issues reasonably and intellectually.
