My passion is becoming a lawyer.
Well, It all started when I started watching Law & Order. I know it sounds crazy, but I just loved it. I'd come home every day and watch whatever episode of Law & Order would come on. I wanted to know who did it, I wanted to who was defending the suspect, I wanted to if he'd go to jail. I always loved the part where the lawyers questioned the suspect and give the jury evidence as to why the suspect was guilty. It's about helping. I want to help the innocents from going to jail when they shouldn't be there. I want to give good evidence as to why the suspect is innocent. I want to defend and help.
Attending NSLC Law & Advocacy will help me build up my speech skills. I'm a very shy person, so I don't speak much. I'm scared to speak or read aloud as well. But, I am pretty sure attending NSLC Law & Advocacy would really help me. Practice makes perfect, right? My weakest points will be my strongest once I attend to NSLC Law & Advocacy. I want to be a great speaker and this would be a great opportunity for me to know what's it like stand in front of other students and defend what I believe in. Becoming a lawyer is my passion, and I'll do everything I can to make sure I'm a good lawyer and a good public speaker.
Nakia's mission in life is to help others. Therefore, her interest in law stems from her craving for justice for people in her community. Her interest in justice and civil rights issues is what motivates her to understand the law and what her place as a lawyer would be. This program will allow her to dive into those interests full force. Not only that, but she is a part of the Law, Public Safety, and Health Academy at Hillhouse. Therefore, she often explores issues of law and justice in her classes, which is preparing her for her next step in exploring her academic passions.
Going to NSLC was amazing. I met many new friends that came from all over the world. It was amazing to meet them and have fun. I also got to be on campus at Yale University!!! That was super fun and I'm really happy I got to go.
Thank you so much for donating and letting me have to chance to attend a program that will help me with my career. I had such an amazing time and I now know more about being a lawyer and hopefully one day I will be an amazing lawyer. Thank you.
