My passion is technologies of the future.
I got interested in technology through anime. In anime, they always have cool technologies like space travel and giant robots. This, combined with science classes, helped me figure out that technologies of the future are what I love.
Today, I inform myself of new technologies and sciences through social media like, 'Wow! Real bipedal robots!', or 'Holy moly 3D printing', or the best one yet, 'Oh my gosh, we're actually going to Mars.' It's so exciting to learn what is in store for the future, and it's moving that I will be a part of it someday. iD Tech Camp fits my passion very well, as it is all about science and technologies. Through iD Tech Camp, I hope to gain a foothold that will benefit me in the future and also strengthen my passion.
"Anthony has demonstrated that he is able to persist through difficult situations. Anthony's attention to detail and creative abilities allow him to shift his thinking until he is able to achieve the results he wants. He is willing to work hard and is incredibly motivated to succeed.
Anthony has discovered that he learns best when he is able to pursue a project hands-on and when he is able to learn from others. Therefore, iD Tech Camp would be an ideal environment to support Anthony in his growth. He is an incredibly creative student, and works especially well when he is able to collaborate with others and build from their ideas. I believe this will make iD Tech Camps an invaluable experience for Anthony, and an opportunity that must be seized."
After having done my program at iD Tech Camps, it was quite the experience. First off, the community was nice. There were people coming from many different places, mainly Europe or Asia. The people were very much like me yet different, similar in interests and games. Second, the food was great. Getting to eat three meals a day with a buffet and a soda, milk, and juice fountain was awesome. We did have to walk quite a bit to the place we ate at and personally choosing to eat whatever I wanted to during lunch balanced it out. Third was the different things we did each night. After coming back to our dorm from dinner, there would be a different activity each night. Some of the activities we did were Casino Night (Card games, betting on Super Smash Bros AI, and other casino games I can’t name), Dance Night (We [they] just danced), and Movie Night (We watched Batman Begins). And lastly, the most important part, the work part. For my specific iD Tech Camp, Robotics, we were split into teams of four and dove straight into building robots. Most of the time was spent on building the robots with screws, metal plates, and what not. I found it fun, like I was playing with Legos. I learned more about myself during the week there, and overall it was a great experience.
When I got into Wishbone, I quickly narrowed down my preferred programs to iD Tech Camps. iD Tech Camps is a weeklong, overnight program that will give people like me knowledge and experience for interests ranging from technology and STEM. The reason why I chose iD Tech Camps was due to multiple reasons. Firstly, the description of the program had a lot of my interests, technology and STEM, and some things I might find interesting. Secondly, it was a week-long, overnight program. I wanted to choose a program where I can do as much as I can. Many other programs were too short or were very “choppy” in time. With iD Tech Camps providing overnight programs, I could potentially learn or do work on my free time or gain social or other experiences. I am very excited and hope to learn as much as I can, work as much as I can, and do as much as I can during the short time I will have in this program. I look forward to meeting new people, gaining new knowledge to help me later on, gaining new experiences, and working on projects and activities, I am also particularly excited for the robots.
Anthony is a great student and I know he will benefit from this program!
