My passion is medicine.
Becoming a doctor has been my passion ever since I was little. I would watch my doctor do my monthly checkup thinking, "That's going to be me someday."
The National Youth Leadership Forum on Medicine would provide me with a great opportunity to witness the lives of doctors in order to be certain about my decision. I want to learn the latest developments in my field and network with others who are pursuing similar passions. I am hoping to be able to develop a sense of community with the peers around me at this program.
"Jasprit has an excellent sense of humor, as well as a healthy dose of ambition, that guide her through her days. I believe that Jasprit is a great candidate for the National Youth Leadership Forum on Medicine. I think Jasprit would relish the opportunity to represent her school and home communities this summer while also learning a ton and becoming more confident in her college aspirations. I hope to see Jasprit come back to King in her senior year confident in her desire to be Pre-Med, even more committed to her science and math studies, and ready to inspire younger students to follow in her footsteps."
Where to begin! The program I attended at CSU East Bay was what made this summer so informational and successful for me. Through this program, I learned about so many different routes I can take to get to where I want to be and gained knowledge about all the different career paths within medicine. This program helped me realize that it's not just about a pediatrician or a surgeon, it's also about the CNNs, nurses, and family practitioners that help make the medicine field as successful as it can be. I especially enjoyed how we had a variety of speakers from all around the area and from different fields talk us through about their journeys and how they got to be where they are. I especially enjoyed Dr.Thomas, the best speaker I've ever experienced. She is so full of joy and has so much passion for what she does. I wish to one day love my job as much as she does. Through this experience, I gained hands on experience, intellectual thoughts and opinions, and found my future career path: becoming a trauma surgeon.
The program I chose to attend is National Youth Leadership Forum of Medicine at Cal State East Bay. I chose this program because I wanted a program where I could gain real world medical experience and consider professional career opportunities in the medical field. One thing I am looking forward to most is experiencing dorm life and being able to utilize my personal and academic strengths in the program as well as gain hands-on medical and healthcare activities. This program emphasizes real-world experiences and simulations, which is something that I really am excited about because I want to broaden my future career paths and explore other regions of interest in order to love and have passion for my future career. I am also excited to gain insight on academic choices that will set me up to be successful in college. I am hoping to meet some inspiring individuals, such as doctors, surgeons, nurses, etc. to be to distinguish which career choice is the right fit for me.

Wishing you the best, Jasprit! I have many wonderful friends that have recently entered the medical field and did so by committing themselves to several years of study. The studying continues into their profession and I hope that your passion will carry throughout your time as a student and as a practitioner. Best of luck! -RY
