Jazmine's Story

My passion is medicine.

Even though I used to hate going to the doctors, I have come to appreciate the compassion and care that they provide for their patients. I had to spend some time in the hospital having surgery, and the nurse who took care of me showed me what it's really like to be a nurse. She inspired me.

Attending Blueprint Summer at UConn would not only help me pursue my passion for nursing, but will also prepare me for the life in college. I like the idea that the students that will also attend are around my age, and we already have our passion in common. An experience like this is something that would be unforgettable, and will really prepare me for my future.

Jazmine has constantly demonstrated her ability to be a strong leader, as well as a team player. She is considerate, diligent and disciplined. She was always the first to memorize her lines, to volunteer to bring in costume pieces and to find resourceful ways to solve problems. She will benefit from spending time working in a rigorous environment, exploring the real-life demands of a formal nursing education and familiarizing herself with the realities of the field.

Blueprint at Uconn!

Once I arrived onto the Uconn campus I immediately felt this sense of comfort. The campus itself was beautiful, along with all the friendly people I had the pleasure of meeting. Blueprint was an amazing opportunity that I was so fortunate to be a part of, and I couldn't have done it without the tremendous help of Wishbone.

Careers in Medicine

I was fortunate enough to be granted a scholarship to attend the Blueprint summer program for careers in medicine this summer at Uconn. I am more than excited to be attending this program in the summer. I feel that going to this program will really give me a more in depth and clearer vision of what field of study I would want to go into when I go to college next year.
I am very looking forward to meeting all types of new people and getting to experience something unlike any other. I have never gone to a sleep away camp so that will also be a new experience that I am excited for. This program will most definitely either assure me that the medical field is what I want to follow, or show me that it is not the path for me.
