My passion is law.
I have always been passionate about protecting the rights of others, especially those who may not have the resources to protect themselves. Whether this is through the legal process and correct representation, or through the criminal justice process and solving crimes that go unnoticed, I want to give back to my community. I see myself as a very persistent, hardworking and passionate person. I am currently taking an AP U.S History class, and learning the ins and outs of our constitution and how it applies to our legal system today.
Attending a summer program will definitely advance my knowledge and understanding about our legal and criminal justice systems. I will be able to take courses at the college level, and question those who are currently working in the field. The chance to attend Brown University would be an amazing experience. I would even be able to take courses in Forensics, and better understand the science that goes into solving crimes that are often forgotten. I would have a well rounded experience, and would feel better prepared to make choices about my future studies. This is a really special chance to pursue my passion at a level I never have before.
The first time I met Courtney, I instantly knew she was going to be a student leader. In the summer of 2016, Courtney generously donated her service to assist patients, visitors and staff at Yale New Haven Hospital. Despite limited resources, Courtney has dedicated her free time to assist others as well as gain opportunities to learn about potential future interests through community service. Courtney is also involved in our Youth Dialogue student advocate program where she will gain the skills to facilitate other students and strengthen her leadership abilities. Courtney is a shining example of a young lady who has incredible potential. I believe this opportunity will further propel her into taking on more leadership roles within school and in her future endeavors.
I am very excited to attend Brown University this summer! I can't wait to meet new friends and become stronger in the writing field. Expanding my writing experiences will help me in the future and beyond. Thank you so much for allowing me to go and experience this exciting opportunity. I won't let you down!
I am going to be participating in the Writing Seminar at Brown University this Summer. I am very excited to be joining the program, it will give me the ability to learn new strategies and skills necessary to be able to embrace more challenging writing courses in my upcoming Junior year. I am looking forward to working with other people my age with similar interests and sharing ideas and advice with one another.
I chose this program because I have loved writing and would like to strengthen my abilities as a writer. This program will help me develop my writing skills and I plan to use the knowledge gained in this program in AP Literature and AP Government/History in my junior year. I feel like this program will provide me with a more well rounded experience, and I would feel better prepared to make choices about my future studies.
