Christine's Story

My passion is art.

Art has been a part of my life every since I was very young. I remember growing up always saying that I loved art. As I have grown older, I have started to explore different mediums of art and different subjects to capture within my work. Starting in around third grade my mom signed me up for watercolor painting classes in my neighborhood, and I have been doing it ever since. Painting and drawing has always been something that I have put all of my effort and time into. Most of all, art is something I find joy in doing. Seeing how much I have grown as an artist is something I am proud of and I hope to keep growing and getting better.

Being a part of the Academy of Art Summer Pre-College program, I will be able to have experience with multiple mediums. Expanding my horizons in this way will allow me to get a better understanding of art and give me new ideas in how to use what I have. By looking into animation or acrylic painting, I will be able to experience and experiment with different concepts of these types of art. Overall, I think that this program will make me a well-rounded artist.

Christine is a great candidate for the Academy of Art Summer Pre-College Art Experience because of her strong passion and talent for art. She has been creating art as a form of self-expression since she was a young girl, and this program will help her broaden her artistic horizons and explore new mediums and types of art. This program will also give her insight on how to continue pursuing art in college and beyond.

Post academy of art pre-college experience

This program allowed to get a better idea of what I'll be able to do with art in the future as a career. Before this program, I just drew things from reference and didn't really create my own work. In such classes as character design and illustration, I have learned how to design my own characters and design a composition. After this program, I will start practicing drawing in a new way by continuing to come up with new ideas of my own. Getting new perspectives on art from my teachers at the Academy of Art taught me how I should critique my own work and make me a better artist. I enjoyed these classes so much that I am really considering doing character design in the future as a career. I'm so thankful for this experience at the Academy of Art and I would not have been able to have this new view on art without your help. Thank you very very much!

This was work I had done from my illustration class. The assignment was to design and compose a tarot card, so here is my final piece of the magician tarot card.

Road to Academy of Arts Summer Program

I've been accepted into the Academy of Arts Summer program! I have begun looking more into the classes that are being offered and started scheduling my classes. I decided that I want to explore animation, architecture, character design, and illustration. I am excited to start taking classes this summer and learning about these mediums on a much deeper level.
