Kayahma's Story

My passion is engineering and computer science.

I discovered my passion for engineering and technology through a program called ScriptEd. ScriptEd is a highly intensive program that teaches students coding and web design. Although I’ve had the opportunity to learn the basics of a few coding languages, ScriptEd is only a few hours per week. With the help of Wishbone and ID Tech Camps I will be able to pursue my passion further.Through the array of program choices I am excited to expand my knowledge of javascript, css, and html.

By attending ID Tech Camp, I will be able to learn more valuable STEM skills. The course I am most interested in is Coding and Programming because I want to at least minor in Computer Science in the future and this program brings me closer to my dream job. By learning more about these topics I will be able to have a better understanding of what I specifically want to study when I go to college and what I want to do when get a job.

A Note from Ms. DeChant, Kayahma's Teacher

Kayahma has always been savvy

She's a negotiator: She constantly striking up deals with teachers and students, whether advocating with teachers on her peer's behalves or convincing her engineering teacher to allow her to create a unique invention that he originally rejected but ended up loving in the end.

She's and entrepreneur: She excels at identifying others' needs and offering solutions, then advocating to be given the go ahead to work on the solution and bring her vision to life (her work with the Paerdegat Athletic league from the question above is a great example).

She's a leader: Kayahma once made a gift for a teacher and convinced the entire staff to sign it before dropping it off. She also has taken on a lot of responsibility in the robotics club, where she takes responsibility for managing materials among other tasks.
