Marc's Story

My passion is to use culinary arts as a tool to provide healthy food alternatives in my community.

Growing up, my mother and grandmother took pride in cooking good food for our family. We lived in a small apartment, but that did not stop them from making feasts that made us feel like royalty. I had the opportunity to get cable at the age of twelve, and I discovered the Food Network. It immediately became my favorite channel. I often dreamed of becoming a master chef and bringing luxury dishes to my neighborhood at an affordable price.

Attending the Culinary Cooking for Teens would give me the opportunity to be trained by experienced chefs and begin to pursue my career in culinary arts. It will also help me to build relationships with other students who have the same passion as I do. This would serve as a stepping stone towards building a solid foundation for my passion. I plan on making a difference in the world through cooking, and I know this program will help me do that.

"Marc is a passionate and persistent young man that will take full advantage of the opportunity to join Wishbone and participate in the Culinary Cooking Camp for Teens. I recently learned about Marc's passion for culinary arts. Prior to that, I knew him as the dedicated student-athlete who makes a difference on and off the mat as a Varsity Wrestler. After suffering two concussions, Marc decided to shift his role from participant to coach. Marc understands the value in culinary arts and plans to use the experience to propel to him to a better position to make a difference through healthy food choices in the community.

Participating in the program will allow Marc to hone his leadership skills while strengthening his skill-set in culinary arts. I am confident that Marc will become a student ambassador for Wishbone, consistently enlightening others about his priceless experiences with the program."

Very memorable experience at ICC (International culinary center)

This is probably one of the best things to happen to me in a long time. I met a lot of great people in my class and cooked a lot of food in those five days. It was a really amazing experience to feel like a student at the ICC. It felt so real! Waking up and traveling there every morning felt real, not like a watered-down experience. The food we cooked was nothing but spectacular: such great products, the vegetables to the meat were of really high quality. It was such a great thing to see very nice kids and adults in one setting. There were really no complaints during those five days, it was just a really fantastic experience. On the last day, it was a real treat to meet the New York Mets's outfielder, Curtis Granderson. He ate lunch with us and he was such a very nice person, so humble. It's was an honor to be with him. But, without the donors this wouldn't have happened, so I would like to thank you so much for the fantastic opportunity you gave me.

Very excited for Cooking Camp for Teens

This is going to be a very exciting summer for me because most of the time nothing really happens. This summer is going to be different because of the opportunity that Wishbone's given me. Not only am I going to do something that I love, I'm also doing it for free because of the amount of people who truly believed in me and donated to my campaign. Words can't express how grateful I am to be given this opportunity. I can't wait to meet new people over the summer and just have a good time. This also gives me the opportunity to get my culinary skills and ideas on a high level because of the amount of educators who are going to be there.
