My passion is performing arts.
Growing up, I was always writing and performing music as well as performing and acting in front of other people. I remember in the eighth grade when I auditioned for one of our biggest plays yet, "Beauty and the Beast." When auditions came I lost my voice and I could not sing at all. I did not receive the part as Belle. Instead I was given the role as "lady and the baby"! In that moment, I wanted to just give up. My teacher told me that in a play, every person, every prop, and every minute plays a part in the play's success. This experience helped me discover my true potential and my role in peoples life regardless if they are big or small. Ever since then, I've never stopped working hard.
Attending US Performing Arts: Acting for the Camera will help me explore my passion because it will give me a chance to do something that I love as well as get feedback on what I can do better. I know that if I keep working hard and following my dreams I will achieve them.
"In skits and fashion shows in Spanish, Omega has always given the most memorable performances. During Spirit Weeks, Omega transforms herself into characters from Harry Potter, Hip Hop groups, and sports teams, all while challenging her classmates to upstage her. At Pep Rallies, Omega is the ever-ready Emcee, getting the crowd hyped and moving a community with her words. In a sense, Omega has been doing all the code-switching and character development necessary for acting, but without the formal training and the cameras. Omega would bring an unparalleled focus, joy and enthusiasm to this type of opportunity."
I had an amazing time at this summer camp! At first I was really nervous because I didn't know what to expect and I was scared I wasn't going to connect with anyone. However, I went in with an open mind and came out with so much wisdom. I made new friends, and had a lot of new experiences. I was able to understand how life really works in a unique way , and this camp has motivated me to pursue my passion further in order to be a role model for young African American kids, and be someone that they can look up to. I really appreciate you for helping be able to attend this camp. I know that with out you I would not have been able to go. I really appreciate you for believing in me and allowing me pursue my dreams. You have helped put me on a path to do great things in the near future! Thank you so much.
Everyone is very proud of you and you are a leader in the making!
