Selena's Story

My passion is swimming.

I first discovered my passion for swimming when I was about 6 or 7 years old, when my aunt took me to swim lessons. I loved being in the water. Unfortunately, at age 9, I stopped swimming for few years, but once I started high school, my passion for swimming returned. I don't plan on stopping swimming any time soon even after high school.

A Note from Mrs. Gay, Selena's Teacher

Selena is one of the strongest swimmers on the East Hartford Girl's Swim team. At every swim meet she shaves seconds off her best times. Selena's favorite stroke is the butterfly. It is unusual at our high school to find a swimmer that enjoys swimming butterfly. If Selena is accepted into the US Sports Nike Swim Camp, she will be able to learn tips and tricks to perfecting her stroke. This could open doors for Selena by allowing her to attend a college with a great swim program.

Attendance Update

During my experience I learned so much from this program and I'm very thankful for all the people who donated. I met many different people from different parts of the country and world! I'd say that I would definitely do this again! It was a lot of fun and a lot of good information was given to me, which is and has helped me become a better athlete. Once again thank you to the staff and everyone who helped me get to where I am today!
