My passion is hiking.
I discovered my passion for hiking around the age of about 8 years old during my first year of Fresh Air Fund and Mount Lawn Sleep away camps. I have attended these camps every summer since.
As I participated in the activities, I came to realize that I loved hiking, canoeing and seeing nature up close. When I'm not at camp, I enjoy reading books about different species of animals and watching nature-themes shows such as Animal Planet and Man V.S. Wild. Ever since the age of 10, I would draw detailed pictures of snakes and other animals.
My amazement in organisms and nature continues to grow as I take more and more advanced science classes in school. There, I am am able to get hands on experience through labs and the occasional class field trip.
Sun'Jarae or "Sunny", is such a great young man. He has an unquenchable curiosity for the world around him and has deep inquiries. This was one of the reasons that I had such joy when teaching him. Sunny does indeed love the great outdoors and exploring. Sunny is definitely a city kid, but despite his setting, he has advocated for himself and made his own opportunities. It's has been amazing to hear about his adventures when hiking. These stories are such a joy to hear because he is also a master story teller.
