More about Omar

Living in the South Bronx has made Omar strive to go the extra mile in everything he does. Growing up, he’s seen many of his classmates drop out of school and lose sight of the value in their lives. He’s determined to see his community not as an excuse to settle for less, but as motivation to do more.

This summer, Omar wants to attend Brown University’s Leadership Institute, where he’ll take part in path-changing leadership workshops. Omar has the intelligence and the poise to become a great leader. Now he wants the opportunity to improve his public speaking skills and find the global issues that he’s most passionate about resolving. Brown’s Leadership Institute is the perfect place for Omar to take his next steps.

In the words of his sponsor teacher, Omar is an astute, sensitive and sophisticated young man with outstanding leadership potential. He would love to see Omar get the chance to indulge in all of his natural leadership skills while also improving his public speaking at Brown.
