About Global Youth Leadership Year 2 Institute

The Global Youth Leadership Institute is a program that seeks to build collaborative leaders by engaging its participants socially, intellectually, emotionally, and physically. Students will spend seven days in New Mexico where they will learn to recognize strengths and effectively work together.

More about Adrian

Adrian comes from a loving world surrounded by a tough shell. Near his community, he sees most people following a path of self-destruction as they forget about education and lead unstable lives. He says he feels lucky that his family and community have helped him break through destructive forces, avoid peer pressure and grow towards his goal of starting his own civil engineering firm.

This summer, Adrian wants to attend the Global Youth Leadership Institute in New Mexico. Their program values collaborative leadership and equality in decision-making- two things that are very important to Adrian personally. With the skills he gains at GYLI, he hopes to have a positive impact on every member of his community and take his next step towards starting his own business.

Adrian’s sponsor teacher says that he’s an exceptionally bright student with natural talents for many different academic subjects. He thinks that GYLI will be a great way for Adrian to meet new friends from different backgrounds and to experience things outside of his comfort zone.
