More about Iris

Iris knows that in life she’s passionate about solving challenging problems and helping others to solve theirs. But even though she’s a good all-around student, she still hasn’t identified her favorite subject in school. She’s made it her goal to explore as many academic options as possible before settling on a major in college. This summer, she has the chance to study several subjects in-depth with Columbia University’s Summer Program for High School Students.

At Columbia, Iris has chosen the College Preparatory Option, which combines classes in math, expository writing, critical thinking, and research skills. She’s confident that these classes will help her find her true academic passion for her time in college. She’s never taken any college courses before, and she’s elated to have this opportunity at one of her dream schools.

Her sponsor teacher says that Iris is a well looking for water: she has a desire for knowledge that the school day alone could never satiate. He also says that he hasn’t yet encountered a girl who will outwork Iris.
